Sewing Room Makeover Contest
To win this! What an absolute dream. I think it would give my sewing creativity a much needed shot in the heart. Its been a hard summer for me and not only do I have a spinal cord injury, but I had to have my knee replaced and during that hospitalization I had a stroke. I am slowly getting better, but looking at the prize made me think of many ways I could jump start my sewing. The colors of the fabrics and the beautiful thread, what beauty

Here We Snow Again
My husband, a Newfoundlander says all the time that "snow is poor man's fertilizer." That being said, we should have a great garden this year. I am so ready to get out there and move things around and see how we are going to organize things this year. We had such good luck with bell peppers last year that we still have some left in the freezer. It has been snowing steadily since late last night..We had a lag around noon but it had started in earnest again. Libby has such fun in the yard, and is happier the deeper it gets. So here's to hoping this is the last of the snow.

Here we go again
It has been almost a year..Last summer was awful..So hot.I learned alot.I worked hard on my compost piles and hoped for a new year. I have been following #gardenchat on twitter so I haved learned from experienced gardeners. The snow melted in the back yard enough so that I could put newspapers, cardboard, coffee grounds, crushed eggshells all on my garden beds. Then I covered them with compost. It is supposed to snow the day after tomorrow. I did walk around the yard and many bulbs are coming up! The most important thing that happened to me this past year, I adopted a 3 year old Newfie from rescue. Her name is Libby. She is beautiful and she has made me laugh again. So here is to another spring. I feel optomistic about this one.

Spring was over in a flash!
The greenhouse, finally complete was a busy hub of activity. Finally all those little pots that I had been saving for the past ten years could be put to good use. We have many plants that have been transplanted into garden beds..Things are getting into shape. And oh those weeds! It is raining now and supposed to for the rest of the weekend. It is good for the water deficit and we are able to get about 500 gallons of water per storm with our collection system from the roof. It is an amazing thing for me to see.

Today and yesterday the weather here was just fantastic. The roof in the Greenhouse is done and the outside should be done next week. The bulbs are coming up and the mud in the backyard is starting to dry out. Still in rubber boots. It is supposed to snow a bit tonight and then looks good for the coming week, so hopefully I can get out there and do a little gardening.

Still Snowing
It is still snowing so I am catching up on inside work and plan to sit with a cup of tea and go through all my new gardening catalogs and see what I can dream up for the greenhouse. I have been thinking alot about vermiculture so I will spend some time today seeing what is out there. One thing I am pretty sure on is I don't want it in the house. they say that snow is poor man's fertilizer, so I am happy to report that my leaf containers and my compost pile is buried.

Snow today!
The greenhouse is almost done!! I can just imagine it . But the roof is not sealed in at the top part and so we have decided to put the tarp back on and go from there depending what nature throws at us.
